Daniel May 10, 2016; Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, CA
What's the best laugh you've had? "When I really want to laugh... I'll say this: I never watch the shows on late night TV that are supposed to be funny. Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, all of those. You know, they don't make me laugh at all, but if I really want to laugh, I read fan comments on the sports pages of newspapers. Those are the ones that really make me laugh. My favorite newspaper to go to, well I have two favorites. One is the Minneapolis Star Tribune online, the other is the Detroit Free Press. I always read them after their team loses to see how the fans are looking at it and that makes me laugh. Good laughs."

JOe APril 20, 2016; Cuernavaca, Baja California, MExico
What do you want to explore? "I want to explore God's plan for me and for those around me, like my best friends. I want to see what God is looking for from us in the future and try to explore places that we might not expect instead of just things that we're good at. I'm just trying to explore different things and trying to listen to God's voice."
Angela April 15, 2016; Cuernavaca, Baja California, Mexico
What's the best prank you've ever pulled? "I feel like others have pranked me well and that's all that's coming to my mind, but I guess the ones when I was young. I want to say this was when I was around 5 years old. My house was going under construction, so we had a bunch of maintenance workers and construction guys in the house. Basically, it was a complete mess. They were working on different walls and stuff, so I took advantage of that. I got my mom mad at something while she was on the phone and I thought she was going to punish me or something so I ran away. I went behind all the construction work and my mom, since she didn't really get too mad, went looking for me after she got off the phone. I kept going from one area to the other area. I ended up being found in the arms of a construction worker. It was so great. But that was fun because I was really scared and I was jumping around from one area to the other in the construction area. It was just fun."

Love the country, miss the people. I was only there for like three and a half months, but it felt like I made a family there and I miss them. It's like living a long distance away from your family."

Katie March 11, 2016; Fawnskin, CA
Where have you been? "Where have I not been, I guess. I mean, in a very existential sense, I guess I've been a lot of places in my readings and my studies and things like that. Maybe that's the most fun I've had, traveling through that. But I've also been to Mori, India. India is a beautiful country. Crazy place, but beautiful country. That's where I've been."
Jonathan February 29, 2016; Fawnskin, CA

Allen May 12, 2016; Azusa, CA
What's the biggest crime you've ever committed? "What's the statute of limitations on these? The worst crime that I've ever committed was one time for my youth basketball league, we had this big game at Kezar Stadium, which is where the championship games are held in San Francisco for the youth basketball leagues. Now I had to poop real bad. Real, real bad. Unfortunately, I didn't know where the bathrooms were, so I ran out the door and out into the football field, back up the stands (the stands were really big), and found an area behind a pillar in a grassy knoll where I pooped in the famous Kezar football stadium."

Casey April 27, 2016; Azusa, CA
How do you feel about regrets? "I feel that regrets... Well, I have a motto in my life that I don't want to have any regrets because I feel like regrets, they're things that you feel a calling to do, but you get too nervous for certain reasons and you don't do them. I think that being able to overcome that nervousness will help you avoid having regrets and help you live a fuller life."
Paul April 24, 2016; Cuernavaca, Baja California, MExico

Do people control their own destiny? "Oh wow, that's an intense question. It kind of encompasses all parts of your life: the theological, philosophical and what you believe about free will. I think in a way, yes, we do control our own destinies in that we struggle against things and that at one point, we can choose where we want to go and what we want to do. Often, that can be on the strength of God or the knowledge that in the future, no matter what choice we make, God will be with us. I don't know if that's a very coherent answer at all, but in a way, I think we do control the circumstances that will impact our future. Humans are creative in the sense that we have the power to create what we want. What a joyful thing that is."
Dave April 7, 2016; Cuernavaca, Baja California, Mexico
What's your earliest memory? "My earliest memory is kindergarten. My second day of kindergarten. I kicked my teacher in the face, like no joke. It was my first time ever being away from my mother. The first day of kindergarten, my mother stayed at the school for some reason. Then on the second day, she drops me off and says, 'Okay bye, I'm leaving!' And I was like, 'What?!' After she was gone I was like, 'I don't want to be here.' So I started climbing the fence. My teacher was trying to get me down and while I was above her, I kicked her face. Then she got me down and I clawed at her arm, so she had red scratch marks down her arm. I was a pretty terrible monster on my second day of kindergarten."
Nelson April 4, 2016; Cuernavaca, Baja California, Mexico

Who do you want to meet? "I want to meet so many people, but I would like to meet our founding fathers because I'm in American Government right now and I'm learning how controversial our government was and how everyone had different ideas. So I'd like to interview them and tell them what our government is like now to see what they think of it and see if it's actually what they envisioned or if we just totally screwed it up."
Eliot March 25, 2016; Cuernavaca, Baja California, Mexico

Alexander March 22, 2016; Cuernavaca, Baja California, Mexico
What's one of the scariest things you've ever done? "This is when I was really young. We went hiking in Bryce Canyon, I think it's in Utah or Colorado, and I'd never seen lightning before. I went into the canyon with my family. There were so many lightning strikes happening and it was all very overwhelming as a child. Every second, I was in constant fear that either me or my father were going to get zapped by lightning. I've lived a very tame life, so that's the coolest it gets."
Raul March 18, 2016; Rancho Cucamonga, CA
What do you need to make time for? "Being alone and especially being alone with God because I'm definitely around my soccer team, my mission team, my friends, and classes a lot. I find it difficult to find alone time because when I do go home, it's normally late at night and I just want to go straight to sleep. Like with anything else, you have to be intentional about being alone and also about being alone with God and taking advantage of that time. So I have to work on that."
Julia March 15, 2016; Fawnskin, CA

Who do you want to thank? "I would like to thank my mother. I'm a momma's boy. Am I allowed to thank both of my parents? Is that a thing? Great. I'm going to do that. I'm going to do something generic and everyone does that, but that's okay. I'd like to thank my parents for shaping me from a young age with a Christian worldview. My mom says that God has no grandchildren. I like that. It means that just because my parents are Christian doesn't mean that I am a Christian. They pushed me in the direction of Christ and they always did that. You know, that's the best thing about my life and I would like to thank them for that. So thanks mom and dad!"
Rebekah February 23. 2016; Fawnskin, CA
What did you lose? "I've had some difficulties after I graduated high school with who I was and what my faith was. Like who I was in God and who I was as a a woman and a lot of different ideas about faith and spirituality and what it meant to be a Christian. It was just really difficult for a while trying to figure out if I was an atheist because I had a lot of anger at God. I was just going through the motions of going on mission trips and trying my best at having faith in God and being a good Christian. It sucked and I do feel a little like I lost the conviction that I had in a lot of ways, but I found something in learning about social justice and learning about God's justice. There's still a loss of almost innocence and faith that I used to have. I'm still trying to figure it out."
Alex February 14, 2016; Azusa, CA
You have an hour to live, what do you do? "I'd say goodbye to everyone. I'd write letters, call family, loved ones, anyone and tell them I love them. I'd say sorry for anything that may have offended them. I'd say thank you for all the memories."
Catherine February 5, 2016; Azusa, CA

What do you want to do? "I want to drink some tea. It's going to be one portion tea and two portions honey. Because, you see, I lost my voice and I need to get it back. The best way to do that is with honey and with tea. So once again: two portions honey, one portion tea and that's going to fix it. Then, copious rest."
Louise January 22, 2016; Carlsbad, CA
If you had the choice, would you give it all up for love? "Oh yeah, of course. I mean, there's nothing else that is more important. But if it's real love, it wouldn't make me give up the things that I think are important."

What's the most important life lesson for someone to learn? "Everything you're going to learn in school is not going to be enough. You're going to have to keep learning throughout your life. At least in my case, I'm going to finish school and I'm only going to know a fraction of what I need for civil engineering's sake. Don't think you know it all when you finish whatever career you're studying. Keep on learning and keep on learning from those who know a lot. It doesn't matter if it's something else, something different from what you studied. Always pay attention and ask questions and continue learning. You never know what you're going to find out or what's going to help you in the future."
Kevin May 14, 2016; Azusa, CA

What's one of the stupidest things you've ever done? "I used to do a lot of lighting and stage design stuff for concerts and musicals, stuff like that. One time, we were in a hurry and we needed to get a bunch of lighting up above the stage about 50 or 60 feet up in the air, so I climbed up there. I needed to put a light on one side and another light 30 or 40 feet away, but I didn't want to take the time to climb back down and move the scaffolding, so I just kind of walked across the top without any harness or anything carrying the lights. I almost tripped and fell off, so that was kind of fun. But I definitely never did that again."
Abby April 9, 2016; Cuernavaca, Baja California, Mexico

Lysh April 5, 2016; Cuernavaca, Baja California, Mexico
What's one of the strangest things you've ever done? "Do you want an insane thing I've done? Well, we visited Mayan ruins in Guatemala that only 300 people go to annually. To get there, you have to take an hour and a half long boat ride over a river that's infested by crocodiles or alligators. Whatever's in Guatemala. We saw them. They were creepy. We're in these metal canoes, like they're not even legit boats. They're metal canoes, okay! We get there and a storm comes in, right, and we're an hour and a half from civilization in these Mayan ruins. They're like, "You need to leave now. A storm is rolling in and it's going to get super dark." We had to get out of there. So we ran down to our metal canoes, we take off and it just gets pitch black outside. Our guides didn't bring any lights so we couldn't see anything. Then it started raining. It started thundering and there was lightning, which was actually really helpful. We thought we were going to die on this river, but the lightning provided enough light so the guides could see the river banks. We'd be zooming at 30 miles per hour towards this bank and then lightning would strike and we'd just turn the boat around. It was so nuts! I thought I was going to die that night, but I was perfectly content to die because it was crazy! So anyway, we got back safe and we just laid on the ground. And that's the most insane thing I've ever experienced in my entire life."

Asa March 20, 2016; Azusa, CA
What have you learned? "So much, honestly. I would say that something that is really on my mind is how much I desire knowing different and new cultures, other than my own. Whether that be heritage, religious, or food culture even. Things like that. I very much desire learning, in that regard."
Jemmie March 16, 2016; Fawnskin, CA

Nikki March 13, 2016; Fawnskin, CA
What give you hope? "I think even though we see so many problems going on in the world, seeing how active and excited our generation is about fixing those problems and addressing them in new ways gives me hope that we're still going to be able to fix and help better things even if there's still sad things happening."
Julie March 4, 2016; Fawnskin, CA
What is something embarrassing that has happened to you? "I don't get embarrassed that easily is the problem, so I'm really bad at answering this question. I can't think of a particular time... oh wait, I do have one! It happened when I was in second grade. So I have two brothers and they're the worst, but I love them. My mom had given me this heart shaped journal and I wrote on the back of it that I liked Dylan Michaels. He was a babe. Second grade, man. My brothers told everyone at my school. They opened it and read it and I cried because I was so embarrassed. My eight year old self knew that Dylan Michaels knew that I like him."

What changed your life? "Wow, that's a vague question. Let's see... I'm going to say Dr. Gregory Elder. He's a Catholic priest who was also my first history professor at community college. He inspired me to want to teach. He cussed like no other and was the funniest guy. I always thought, "I want to be that guy when I grow up." Kind of. He's a little bigger than I want to be... He's just so unique, but I want to teach like that guy. That's what changed my life, or who changed my life, I guess. I changed your question."
Ashlee February 17, 2016; Azusa, CA
Who has had the greatest influence in your life? "Anthony Bourdain because he is probably my favorite travel writer and food consumer. All of his shows and books are just fantastic and full of wisdom. He's very unafraid to be who he is in every aspect, like cursing. He's a wonderful influence for travel writers."
Bethany February 8, 2016; Azusa, CA
How can you help? "I'd say by taking time everyday to be intentional about whatever cause that you're interested in helping with. Definitely sacrificing that time and talking about it with other people is a good way to help."
Billiann January 31, 2016; Carlsbad, CA
When was the happiest moment of your life? "I wanted to say that I haven't had it yet, but I need to just choose one. The happiest moment of my life was when I was younger, we used to go camping a lot at a lake. This is before we had any cool camping anything so we'd camp underneath the stars. So, that's what I'm thinking of; camping under the stars."
