Who are you?
"I am Braxton, youngest of four kids, musician, athlete, academic, I like to think sometimes, not all the time though."
Do you need to take a leap of faith?
"I suppose so because without taking leaps of faith in life then you're just going to get stuck in the same spot, you know? Nothing will ever change. It's a real broad question, but yeah in order for your life to move on, the leaps of faith are necessary or you're going to get stuck in a rut."
What would you do if you knew you wouldn't fail?
"I would be a millionaire and have so much fun with everyone."
Los Angeles, California
What's something embarrassing that has happened to you?
"In high school, I was walking with my wife, my girlfriend at the time, through the quad at Downey High when the bell rang. Everyone was running around trying to get to class when a poop decided to take the biggest dump on my head. It splattered all over my face, into my mouth, and down my shirt. The whole school saw and started laughing right away. She kind of pushed away my hand and walked away because she was so embarrassed."
When was the last time you tried something new?
"Just the other day I tried Indian food for the first time! I've never had it before and I tried it with my co-workers. Yay me!"
What inspires you?
"Music, I suppose. It shapes you as a person and pushes you through life. It gets you through your hard times and your good times and it helps you be the person you want to be."
What would you do if you didn't have to work another day of your life?
"I would snowboard in South America for the rest of my life down a mountain that never ended; it would just keep going."
What's your superpower?
"I'm gonna say water bending because it's kind of what my name means. Trent means raging water or swift water and my middle name, Rikio, means warrior, so water warrior...water bender."
How do you define happiness?
"Happiness is being with the people you love, finding peace wherever you are in your life, no matter the circumstance, and finding joy in the little things."
Santa Clarita, California
Where do you see yourself one day?
"I see myself with a family, a wife, and a couple of kids; a steady job, pursuing something that I like doing...hopefully a job that I love, not just doing it for the money; and highly involved in my church with my family and really close friends that I hang out with all the time. I don't know, pretty basic."
How do you define happiness?
"It's difficult because I want to give you a typical Sunday School answer like, 'If I'm fulfilling God's plan for my life (which I don't know what that is) then I should be happy.' How I define happiness is by what makes me feel good, but even that is relative. Something can make you feel good and in today's society, pleasure is so readily available that we often mistake our pleasure for our happiness. So, with all that being said, I think that happiness isn't just something that makes you 'feel fulfilled,' but being fulfilled in Christ. "
What's your passion?
"Well, two things: teaching and welcoming. I'm really passionate about breaking down complex ideas into simple ones. That's why I want to be a professor. I also want to help people feel welcome and to make them feel like they belong to something and that they're important. So those two things together, the professor and the discipleship, that's my passion and my nerdy... thing."
How do you want to be loved?
"My love language is quality time, so being able to spend time with someone that I care about and talking to them about anything is how I want to be loved."
Who has had the greatest influence in your life?
"Probably my parents for how they raised me."
What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?
"I have two, can I say two? One: I would sing because I love music. I have a passion for music, but I can't sing whatsoever. Two: Talk to people about God and not have them full on reject it and have them actually want to talk about it instead of totally shutting it down."
If you had an hour to live, what do you do?
"Um...well I probably want to just see all my friends and drive all the way across California. Well probably just my city because I probably can't get around California in an hour, but I'll probably go around my city and jump as many rooftops as I can. I'll make a video on Youtube saying,
'The Last Hour of Peter's Life'."
How can you help?
"With giving back, with actions, acts of kindness... serving in any way possible. You know, just meeting the need."
